Kompaniya selects two Alfa Group managers

The objective of the contest is to spur on the most competent and dynamic business leaders in today’s businesses. Candidates were evaluated according to the following criteria: implementation of business strategies, marketing and investment programs, growth of market share, and brand promotion.

Alex Knaster received the award for the best manager of 2000 in the finance field for “the sound business development of the bank.” This was Russia’s first award received by Alfa-Bank’s CEO. Alex Knaster expresses gratitude on behalf of all Alfa-Bank employees, who made this possible.

Alex Knaster joined Alfa-Bank in 1998. In 1995-1998 he was President and CEO of Credit Suisse First Boston (Moscow). Prior to this, he was Director of Deutsche Morgan Grenfell (Moscow); in 1993-1995 Managing Director of Bankers Trust Company (New York and London); in 1985-1993 Managing Director and Partner of Simmons & Company International (Houston).

Alex Knaster holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the Russian Academy of Science, an MBA from Harvard Business School, and a BS in Electrical Engineering and Mathematics from Carnegie Mellon University.
