St. Petersburg, 14 March 2002 — Alfa-Bank and the St. Petersburg City Planning and Architecture Committee are jointly sponsoring a competition to erect a monument in St. Petersburg to the Nobel Prize winning poet Joseph Brodsky, who was exiled from Russia during the communist period and died in the USA.
London, 7 March 2002 — The international ratings agency Standard & Poor's (S&P) today revised its outlook on Russia's Alfa-Bank to positive from stable, and said the upgrade reflected the improved economic environment in Russia and the Bank's enhanced commercial potential.
New York, 7 March 2002 — Global Finance magazine said today it had named Alfa-Bank Russia's Best Bank in 2002. This is the fourth consecutive year that Alfa-Bank has won the award.
